CRÓNICA DE UN QUILT EN PANDEMIA - CHRONICLE OF A QUILT IN PANDEMIC

¡Hola!

Allá por marzo cuando acabábamos de empezar el confinamiento descubrí en Facebook una página que fue como una luz en la confusión en la que vivíamos todos los humanos del planeta: KEEP CALM AND STAY AT HOME. Laura Mori, Paula Carrera y Mami Garrido nos invitaban a participar en la elaboración de un Quilt donde en  cada bloque se vería una actividad diferente que haríamos a lo largo del día dentro de casa.

Haríamos Pilates, regaríamos las plantas, veríamos una película, ordenaríamos el armario o leeríamos un libro, en total 20 bloques a cual más bonito. Las tres, en un equipo perfecto, nos fueron dando los patrones, las indicaciones, los consejos y nos alentaron en el proyecto, todo con generosidad, dedicación y mucho cariño.

Cada día esperaba con ilusión el momento en que me pondría a hacer el bloque que tocaba.

Aprendí mucho y me lo pasé en grande. Creo que este Quilt es un documento artesanal textil de los momentos vividos (hasta le puse una etiqueta con el tiempo que me llevó elaborarlo: de abril a octubre de 2020).

Back in March when we had just started confinement, I discovered on Facebook a page that was like a light in the confusion in which all humans on the planet lived: KEEP CALM AND STAY AT HOME. Laura Mori, Paula Carrera and Mami Garrido invited us to participate in a project: a Quilt where in each block we would see a different activity that we would do throughout the day at home.

We would do Pilates, we would water the plants, we would watch a movie, we would tidy the closet or we would read a book, a total of 20 blocks, each more beautiful. They, in a perfect team, gave us the patterns, directions, advice and encouraged us in the project, all with generosity, dedication and a lot of love.

Every day I looked forward to the moment when I would start doing the block I played.

I learned a lot and I had a great time. I believe that this Quilt is a handmade textile document of the moments lived (I even put a label on it with the time it took me to make it: from April to October 2020).

You will see the finished Quilt and some of the steps I followed to make the blocks.
